Measure of Pavement Macrotexture Depth

CHARACTERISTICS

The solid glass spheres, which are completely spherical and calibrated are clean, dry and prepared in a modern workshop offering every guarantee in terms of quality and consistency.

The solid glass spheres are packaged in :

box of 20 polyethylene bags each containing 1 000 ± 10 g;
lot of 10 pails of 5 kg with handle;
lot of 6 pails of 15 kg with handle.

Shipments are packed in boxes on pallets of 1 ton maximum, protected by a polyethylene cover (land transport) or reinforced boxes (shipping).

CONTROLS

The grading composition, determined by sieving, complies with the requirements of the norm EN 13036-1 & ASTM E 965-96 : at least 90 % of ball mass have a diameter between 0.18 and 0.25 mm.

SCOPE

To determine average pavement macrotexture depths using volumetric technique.

The method may be used on a wide range of surfaces. Nevertheless one should be cautious in interpreting data when the depth measured is outside the interval (0.25 – 5 mm).
