Introduction

Introduction
The Instrument consist of needle attached to a spring loaded plunger. the stem of which is calibrated to read 0 to 40 kgs in 1 kg division. Long stem is graduated at every 12.5mm to read depth of penetration and for use with needles of larger areas. The small penetration steam is also graduated in 12.5mm division and is used with needles of smaller areas. Needle points one each of 0.25, 0.5, 1.0,1.5,2.0, 3.5, and 6.0 sq.cm. and one tommy pin is supplied. Complete as above in a wooden carrying case.

Introduction
It will consist of metallic cone with half angle of 15′ -30 ±15′ and 30.50mm coned length. It will be fixed at the end of a metallic rod with a disc at the top of the rod so as to have a total sliding weight of 148± 0.5 gms. The total rod shall pass through two guides. (to ensure vertical movement) fixed to a stand. Suitable provision will be made for clamping the vertical rod at any desired height above the surface of the paste in the trough. A brass trough 50 mm internal diameter and 50 mm depth will be provided as per IS specification resting on M.S.bars.

Manometer

Burette
50 ml Burette for measuring the volume change in the soil specimen. Pressure pump fitted with four sleeve packed valve, Operated by means of a hand wheel on the end of the piston rod which is threaded thru the pump cap and gives a smooth, fine adjustment of pressure copper coil and water reservoir.
The unit is tested against leaks upto 10Kg/cm2

Hand Operated :
Hydraulic Jacks are of multipurpose utility i.e. application of loads while engaged in field investigation, determination of load carrying capacity of piles in the field, tensioning of wires in pre-cast structures, loading of members of any structures for deformation characteristics. For applying loads for various test in field or laboratory. Hydraulic Jack hand operated with separate pumping units. These jacks are portable available in various capacities. The pumping unit is connected to the hydraulic jack by means of a flexible connecting pipe 2 meter long. The jack is fitted with lifting handles for easy transportation. The approximate lift of the ram is 90 to 120 mm. The pumping unit is a single plunger type with detachable handle. The unit is fixed on a channeled base which is fitted with lifting handles. A pressure release valve is provided on the pumping unit. The load is indicated on a 15 cm dial hydraulic pressure gauge of appropriate capacity which can be detached from the pump when not in use. The least count of the calibrated dial will be according to the capacity of the gauge (Normally 100 divisions for full capacity). Lift of ram – 150 mm.

Introduction
Although generally not such an important property of concrete than compressive strength, tensile strength values are often important to know when the concrete used free of reinforcement and may be subjected to some tensile force. The test method essentially involves applying a load at the centre of a beam of concrete supported at its ends. The load required to break the specimen is then recorded.
Salient Features:
The machine consists of a motorized load frame. The lower platen has two rollers, the distance between which is adjustable. For 150 mm x 150 mm x 700 mm beam, the centre distance between the rollers is 600 mm, while it is 400 mm for beams of size 100 mm x 100 mm x 500 mm. The upper platen has also a pair of rollers whose distance adjustable. It is 200 mm centre to centre, for 150 mm x 150 mm x 700 mm size beam and 133 mm for 100 mm x 100 mm x 500 mm size beam. Total capacity of the machine is 100 KN. 150mm dia pressure gauge of 0-100 KN x 1 KN least count to indicate load is fixed on the load frame. A separate electrically cum hand operated pumping unit housed in a cabinet is supplied. On/Off switch and a slow/fast lever to control rate of loading are fitted on the front panel of the pumping unit. A facility for hand operation is provided. A micro switch and relay fitted inside the pressure gauge protect the unit from over loading.
Hand operated version consists of a load frame. A small hand pumping unit is attached to the load frame. Since this is a hand operated light weight machine. It is useful for field laboratory also.

Introduction
The unit consists of two movable frames pivoted at one end. The lateral extensometer is fixed to the specimen with the help of tightening screws. The lateral extension is indicated on a dial gauge of 0.002 mm x 12 mm travel. The extension is magnified 2.5 times and the dial gauge readings are to be divided by 2.5 to get the exact readings. A spacer strip is provided to initially set the dial gauge and can be removed after initial setting. Supplied in a wooden carrying case.

Introduction
Often, existing concrete structures will need to be examined and tested to ensure the concrete remains of adequate strength and durability. Rebound hammer surveys can be conducted to provide a rough estimate of concrete strength, where it is not possible to determine this by more accurate means such as core extraction and testing.
The test involves using a special rebound hammer, which measures the recoil of a piston against the concrete surface when a standard force is applied. This recoil can then be correlated approximately to concrete strength.
General Description & Specifications
The rebound hammer consists of a barrel in which is housed a hammer mass attached to an impact spring which slides on a guide bar. A plunger is attached to the guide bar which is pressed against the surface to be tested. As the piston is pressed against the surface to be tested, on reaching the compressive strength, the hammer mass is released and rebounds to a certain extent, according to the strength of the surface, which is indicated by a rider on a calibrated scale. A lock button fixed on the body of the hammer lock the rider in place and the rider can be reset to zero Position by using the same button. The equivalent compressive strength can be computed from the chart supplied. It is suitable for specimen of compressive strengths 100-700Kg/cm. The instrument, complete with a grinding stone for polishing the test surface, is supplied in carrying case.

Introduction
This test is used to determine the elapsed time between batching of a concrete sample and when it is deemed by standard methods to have set. The method involves measuring the penetration resistance of a test sample, which has had coarse particles removed at periodic intervals. It is particularly useful, in determining the effect on setting time of admixtures in the concrete, where these may have been introduced specifically to increase the setting time.
It consists of cylindrical spring housing with a plunger attached to the top of the spring. Penetration needle is attached to the other end of the spring housing. The plunger is graduated in 1 kg divisions, to a maximum capacity of 60kg, which can be read with respect to the top end of the spring housing. A set of six needle points with areas of 645, 323, 161, 65, 32 and 16mm2 are provided. Supplied complete in a wooden carrying case.
Pocket Penetrometer
Consists of a needle having face area 3/10 sq.cm. and graduated at a distance of 25mm. The needles point is an integral part of barrel which houses a calibrated spring. The spring is confined in a sleeve. The resistance offered by the concrete mortar is shown on the direct reading scale with a marker ring which holds its position when released. Scale range is 0-50 kg/cm2 when the penetration resistance reaches a value of 35kg/cm2 the concrete is assumed initially set. Supplied complete in a leather carrying case. AS PER ASTM C-403

The digital compression testing machine has been designed to meet the need for a simple, economic and reliable means to test concrete for its compressive strength. The design expressive of simplicity, both of construction and operation, makes the machine easy to use and maintain. The unit is compact, making it useful for site and Laboratory applications. The digital machines are provided with a pace rate controller, to enable maintain a constant of loading.
Features
The Complete unit comprises a Loading Unit which is of fully welded or two pillar model construction having a cross-head with a spherical seated platen. The lower platen is attached to the top of the piston. The Loading capacity is of 2000 KN, Cubes up to 200 mm & Cylinders up to 150 mm Dia X 300 mm Height can be tested using the appropriate spacers.
Pumping Unit with choice of compact power pack attached closely to the loading unit or separate hydraulic pumping unit, attached to the loading unit by high pressure hydraulic flexible hose pipe. The pump facilitates rapid approach of the platens for daylight closure and also provides comprehensive control over the application of load. A control valve provides fine control over the loading rate for accurate pacing.
Maximum load is held and retained for approx. 15 min, unless cancelled, using the panel mounted reset switch. Pace rate set for running the test can be maintained manually.

Introduction
Air content of fresh concrete is normally measured, by the use of a special air meter, to assess whether the concrete contains the required amount of air. This would be measured when air’s entrapment or entrainment is required by the concrete design. The method uses the principle of replacing the air in a known volume of concrete with water, the volume of which can then be measured.
General Description & Specifications
The apparatus consists of a pressure tight flanged cylindrical measuring bowl of specified volume in accordance with size of aggregate to be tested. The bowl is fitted with a removable flanged conical cover assembly with the help of a airtight sealing gasket. The conical cover has an air valve and a pet cock for bleeding off the water. A transparent cylindrical stand pipe, which is graduated in air content, is fixed to the conical cover assembly.
Pressure is applied to the specimen with the help of pressure bulb and the pressure is recorded on the pressure gauge which is mounted on the stand pipe. The whole assembly is mounted on a flat base.
