Aquinity² P10 deionised water system, MembraPure, Germany
Aquinity² P versions produce deionised water (< 1 µS/cm/ > 1 MOhm x cm) by reverse osmosis and conditioning module in to the external reservoir (35 liter or 70 liter). The water can be tapped directly (e.g. for glassware cleaning by hand) or connecting the tank to a laboratory dishwasher. Out of the storage tank the ultrapure water is produced and then can be tapped with a flexible dispenser. The Aquinity² water purification system is available in different configurations (Reagent, Analytical & LifeScience) to meet the specific requirements of ultra pure water for different applications. Analytical is a version with UV lamp for low TOC value. Life Science version comes with UV lamp and Ultrafiltration Module for low TOC and low endotoxin values. An optional integrated TOC sensor allows the user to monitor the TOC content permanentely online. Besides that the Aquinity² can be configured as bench top or bench-integrated system with external panel and wall mounted (with inclined display). The tank can be installed at the side or above the system or even underneath the bench. Upon request the tanks can be connected in series to reach a bigger volume of reservoir.

uniTOC, MembraPure, Germany
The uniTOC device uses the full oxidation by UV. The oxidation process can be enhanced with additional dosage of reagent (persulfate). By using the NDIR detector the uniTOC gives precise results in applications of ground water to ultrapure water. The NDIR detector is absolutely selective to carbon dioxide and therefore independent from conductivity and sample temperature. Measuring times are short and the continuous self-cleaning of the reactor avoids any cross-contamination. Since the quality of the stripped gas can be low, the use of pressurised air in combination with our air filters saves money and is optionally available.

uniTOC advantages
Calibration & System Suitability Test (SST)
Calibration and SST of the uniTOC is easy and can be done by the user. Online operation is interrupted briefly for the system checks to be performed. The operator simply has to connect the inlet with the calibration standard solutions and the diluting water sample. The software enables the user to perform calibration and SST independently and the programmable sequence ensures the automatic procedure and data evaluation of the test. The verification of the TOC results according to the requirements of USP and Ph.Eur is realised by the periodic performance of system suitability tests.

ION Analyser, MembraPure
The ion chromatograph is offered in two different detection variants with regard to different applications. As standard, this is detection by conductivity (IONUS) and for special applications this detector is replaced by post-column derivatization with photometers of different wavelengths in the UV/VIS range (IONUS Post Column Derivatization) in analogy to our amino acid analyzer ARACUS.
By default, we equip our chromatographs almost exclusively with columns from Hamilton in Stainless Steel or PEEK. Columns from other manufacturers are available for certain special applications and on request. We also develop individual applications for you, which are specially tailored to your wishes and your separation problem.
IONUS
This IONUS is suitable for the analysis of anions and cations in research, development and everyday routine. The sample solutions are mostly water-based and may contain water-miscible organic solvents. A classic example is the analysis of (drinking) water according to EPA 300 Part A and B.
The advantage of IONUS is the compatibility with IC columns of all manufacturers and is compatible with all common eluents of anion and cation chromatography. In order to measure smaller concentration ranges in anion analysis, the instrument can be equipped with suppressor technology.
When applying without suppressor technique, it can happen that in the chromatogram there are negative as well as positive peaks for the individual substances or that the peak areas are very small due to very small conductivity differences. In this case the external UV/VIS detector can provide a remedy by using indirect UV detection for light-absorbing eluents. Another possibility is to use non-absorbent eluents for light-absorbing sample substances.
IONUS Post Column Derivatization
This generally more complex detection technique is used if the detection by means of conductivity provides only very small peaks, so that the sensitivity is quite low or this optical detection is much more sensitive. This can reduce the detection limit by orders of magnitude, as for example with bromate to less than 1 ppb.
This IONUS Post Column Derivatization (PCD) does not have a built-in conductivity detector. Instead, it has a reactor for derivatization followed by a single wavelength photometer. Different wavelengths are required for these special applications and used colour reactions. These single wavelength photometers are very sensitive compared to a variable UV/VIS detector, and it can be easily changed by the user. The choice of wavelength depends on the selected colour reaction, such as for the two bromate determinations according to EPA 317 or 326 with 440 nm or 355 nm.
This IONUS PCD also offers the advantage that it can be used with IC columns of all manufacturers and is compatible with all common eluents of anion and cation chromatography.
Technical Specifications:
Method: ion exchange chromatpgraphy with in built conductivity detector, optional with UV detection Or post column derivatization for bromate or transition metals analysis with UV/VIS Detector
Conductivity detection: noise: 0.02 µS, 1 s | linearity: < 1 s | range: 0 – 10 mS/cm
Reproducibility: 0.1 % RSD at 100 µL/min
IONUS features
Anion analysis
Applications for F–,Cl–, ClO2-, ClO3-, Br–, BrO3–, NO2–, NO3–, PO43-, SO42-, I– silicate in water with and without chemical suppressor technique (according to EPA 300.0 & EPA 300.1) are available.
Cation analysis
Different methods have been developed for analysis of cations like NH4+, Li+, Na+, K+, Ca2+, Mg2+, Sr2+, Ba2+.
Derivatization
Modified for post-column derivatisation, very low detection levels for bromate (according EPA 317.0 or EPA 326) or transition metals (VIS detection) are realised.
Detection
Anions and cations can be measured subsequently with conductivity detector. If requested the IONUS can be equipped with UV/VIS detector for indirect detection.
Consumables & spare parts
The IONUS is compatible with the common eluents and columns (max. operating pressure 120 bar) for anion and cation exchange chromatography. The customer is not limited to one brand.
Profile:
Columns: the IONUS works with the common columns (stainless steel/PEEK) with max. operating pressure of 120 bar.
Eluents: because IONUS works with the common eluents based on carbonate/bicarbonate buffers, nitric acid, sulufirc acid, the customer is not bound to a specific product.
OPTIONS
Manual injection port
easy manual injection with Rheodyne valve with a standard volume of 20 µL (other loops up on request)
Anion suppressor technique
based on chemical process regeneration of suppressors with acid.
Separation of transition metals
by using carboxylic acids (oxalic, tartaric, citric acid) as eluents and the complexing agent (PAR) 4-(2-Pyridylazo)resorcin the concentration levels of transition metals can be determined.
Indirect UV detection
the IONUS can be equipped with an additional UV/VIS detector.
Post column derivatization to determine bromate
The bromate analyzer is a dedicated configuration for the analysis of bromate in water based samples with a detection limit of 1 ppb. Depending on what is requested, the derivatization can be performed with Dianisidine (EPA 317) or Triiodide (EPA 326) together with a UV/VIS detector.
Amino Acid Analyser ARACUS, MembraPure, Germany
The ARACUS is a dedicated amino acid analyser for high end analysis of amino acids in research, food quality control (own patent 10 2016 010 887), beverages and feedstuff and in the clinical laboratory. It combines innovative technologies with the classic routine analysis of amino acids by post-column derivatization with ninhydrin and the detection at 440 nm and 570 nm using maintenance-free LED photometers. The setup of the instrument allows the continuous analysis of 96 samples (2 x 48 vials) in a cooled autosampler. The pump allows the simultaneous operation of two fluid lines (eluent line and reactive line), which guarantees a constant mixing. Eluents and reagent solution are selectively chosen through valves and are ideally mixed to each other. The addition of ninhydrin provides a quantitative analysis statement. A washing routine of the injection valve and syringe pump avoids cross contaminations. The level of the individual reagents can be monitored during the runs and warns the user if the quantity is no longer sufficient.
The data acquisition and analysis software aminoPeak or Clarity records two analogue channels simultaneously (570 nm, 440 nm). Chromatograms are shown online. Internal databases allow fast peak identification. Quantitative calculations are performed with internal or external standards, dilution and/or multiplication factors. Several analysis runs can be compared using compiler programmes. The results of each analysis are documented in an individual report.
Ready-to-use kits
The concept behind the ready-to-use eluent and reagent kits allows the reproducible analysis of amino acid samples. Each kit is produced under standardised procedures, tested and certified before shipping. Depending on the application, the eluent and reagent kit contains the necessary amount for about 500 runs. Kits and columns are optiomally matched to each other.
Technical Specifications:
Method: post colum derivatization with ninhydrine
Spectroscopic detection: LED photometers: 440 nm + 570 nm
